Rajesh Kakwani

Biography

I'm Rajesh Kakwani, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon practicing in the North East of England. I studied Undergraduate Medicine (MBBS) and completed a Masters Degree in Orthopaedics at Mumbai University, India.

I continued to be interested in orthopaedic surgery and decided to achieve a MCh Orthopaedics degree from the University of Liverpool in 2006.

After completing my Higher Surgical Training at the Northern Deanery, I gained FRCS (Orth) accreditation. Following this, I was fellowship trained in foot and ankle surgery under Mr Ian Winson / Mr Steve Hepple, Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Bristol, United Kingdom, and under Mr Chris Blundell, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.

I gained further experience at the AO Trauma Fellowship in Hannover, Germany in 2011. Additionally, I was awarded BOFAS Travelling fellowship to the Sigvard Hansen Foot and Ankle Unit, Seattle in 2014.

Since then I have been a Clinical and Educational Supervisor for the Orthopaedic Specialty Trainees and have taught in a variety of regional and national courses. I was fortunate to have been voted to be the Trainer of the Year 2017 by the Orthopaedic Registrars (Health Education North-East).

Finally, I have been actively involved in research and have published about foot and ankle surgery.
